Essential responsibilities and duties

The Country Security Manager manages all aspects of Security operations and provide the leadership required to ensure that the proper policies and procedures are in place to provide a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, assets, confidential or proprietary information in a cost effective manner.


The main missions of the role are:

    • Providing protection for personnel and company property through the management of security protocols.
    • Developing, implementing and maintaining security policies to meet required codes and regulations.
    • Performing risk assessments, conducting internal audits, and accompanying external security audits
    • Coordinate an ongoing review of existing security programs and initiate the development of new programs, as needed, at all facilities in his perimeter.
    • Provide consulting support and make recommendations to site management regarding appropriate, timely and necessary improvements or enhancements.
    • Utilising a strong knowledge of access control systems, CCTV equipment and investigations.
    • Managing the performance of contract security personnel.
    • Acting as a liaison with local SAF law enforcement agencies.
    • Providing security education and awareness activities to company staff.
    • Preparing and maintaining all required security and documentation.
    • Co-ordinating and administering security clearances and other security policies and procedures.
    • Preparing and managing budgets and expenditure.
    • Creativity and innovation in deploying security technologies.
    • Working collaboratively to achieve common project goals and standardisation.
    • Establishing a professional network for good practice exchange and benchmarking


Qualifications


The ideal candidate will have/be:


Minimum Requirement Level:

    • Suitable qualification in Security Management.
    • South African Security Certification. Further education in security administration or similar field will be an asset.


Experience:

    • Proven experience as security or similar position
    • Experience using relevant technology and equipment (e.g. access control systems, CCTV)
    • Experience in reporting and emergency response planning
    • Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures
    • Experience in security regulatory affairs.
